Dick Cheney, the Vice President of the United States, dozes off while everyone else is listening to President Hu Jintao and George W. Bush in the White House. I guess he might just come back from a hunting trip which doesn’t get anyone hurt …
Is there a Starbucks on Pennsylvania Ave? It works for me April 21 How you treat a waiter says a lot...There is a great story on USAToday talking about how people treat a waiter can predict about character.

There are so many MBA courses teaching people how to understand yourself and people you are doing business with, but not many of them can specify how you could find out their character through some observations. Office Depot CEO Steve Odland's story is quite touching and I would agree most of statement if I were in the States, but I wonder if the same rule would apply in the China in the business world...

Yesterday, on my way to the downtown Beijing, I notice that all the automobiles are extremely dirty. The taxi driver told me that there is a rain a few hours ago and after the rain, pretty much everything is covered by the mud/dirt. At that time, I thought it was a terrible thing to spoil the mud everywhere. Today, on my way out to the airport, I witnessed the sand storm first time in my life, my godness, it is like yellow dust fills the air all around you. I wish there could be rain falling right away; mud on the ground is much better than the sand in the air….

Depends on whether you can live with the low-end options, your living cost could vary from nearly 800 RMB to 20000 RMB per month:

April 06 Expired PatentI turned in one patent petition 15 years ago before I left China for the postgraduate study in the States, and I never followed up on the status of application ever since. Thanks for the search technology; I found that the patent was granted when I changed my MSN Spaces header to my real name yesterday .

Wow, I wonder how many things we left could have turned out to be something surprising us later in our life. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

April 05 Success through failure? There is a famous Chinese saying “Success through failure (失败是成功之母)”, but it doesn't make a lot of sense if you take a close look at many success stories. I heard this opinion from a trainer two days ago and it is so much true when I went through my memory book: In most of cases, the huge success is built on the small success and the seizure of the great opportunities. If you go through the Billionaire name list, we can seldom find anyone who went through many major setbacks before he get himself established.
You might be able to find some successful politician or civil right leaders who were taking a hard course on the road to the success, but it is a totally different world in the wealth building arena: the system doesn't give a lot of chances to the losers.
Well, as far as I can tell, “Success is through success”; thus we should change it to”失败是成功之墓” or”成功是成功之母”, so watch out your steps, start with the easy success and build on it, don't let the intimidated tasks to tear you down early on... |
